Perennial Links
Low-growing perennials. In back of the edging, if it is used, or otherwise in the front of the border itself, may be used those perennials, which grow from a foot to two feet in height. These may be planted in combination with the edging plants, in front of them or in combination with the taller plants in back of them. Depending upon their habits of growth and their consciousness, they will be planted in-groups of from three to a dozen or more. The smaller borders would naturally have smaller groups. In any case the groups should be large enough to be visible from the distance from which the border is ordinarily viewed. Here we may use:
Astilbe
Centaurea montana
Cheiranthus allioni
Coreopsis
Dicentra eximia
Eupatoreurn coelestinum
Hemerocallis middendorfi
Heuchera sanguinea
Hosta lanceolata
