SCAIMOROUGH LILY (Vallota speciosa)

This amaryllid, usually catalogued as Vallota purpurea, also comes from the great storehouse of South Africa. It has splendid umbels of funnel-shaped, scarlet flowers. Requires the same culture as A belladonna.

SPARAXIS

Sparaxis, or wand flower, is closely related to 1xia, and its culture is the same. Flowers and flower colors are quite similar in the two genera; although Sparaxis is the smaller plant, its individual flowers are larger than those of Ixia. While there are several species in cultivation, the corms are usually sold only in mixtures.
